I consider this season the prototype. By next season, this should be working really well. What I enjoy about what we are doing here is making a prediction and backing it up with a little or a lot of detail. I don't want that to leave. I read sports articles all the time, and when I read what you all write, it has that kind of ring to it. I want you voices and opinions heard, so whatever changes are made, just keep that up.
Here is the new and improved 3PU: Points system... Each game will be valued
Pick 3 games with some reasoning and one Upset with some reasoning. Upsets will be the 4 point and 5 point games. You will only gain one extra point for chosing a correct upset.
5 POINT GAMES (Big upset Games)
BUFFALO (0-6) to win againts KC @ KC (4-2) - If KC is going to take control of the AFC west they have to win winnable games, and Buffulo is a must win for them at home. Although that Fitzpatrick is really playing well, the bills played well against one of the strongest bird teams in the league. The RAVENS.
Every TD
MINNESOTA (2-4) to win against NE @ NE (5-1) - The Vikings are up against the wall and have a crying man representing the team. Tom Brady is doing everything he can to not look like a football player and the further he gets from it the better he becomes. Remember in 2007 when they were perfect all season long. Everytime he threw a TD, he looked upset. No emotions, in fact he was teh exact opposite of how favre reacts to a TD pass. Favre looks like a little kid when he throws a TD, and i get why. I was play flag football last year, and it was the last play, we were losing horribly and all we wanted was a TD. Final snap I shake the pass rushers and dash towards the sidelines, without even time to look for recievers I rear back and haul one as far as i can, and its tipped and caught by one of my recievers. I remember pondering to myself, "huh, that is what it must be like to be Brett Favre."
4 POINT GAMES (Underdog)
SD (2-5) to beat TEN (5-2) @ SD - SD's record and injuries make them the underdog, and the Titans are playing well enough for me to make SD the underdog.
CAR (1-5) to beat STL (3-4) @ STL - Although STL and CAR are evenly matched, the Rams are playing really good at home. STL gets the favorite to win from me.
Bradford looking good at home.
DET (1-5) to beat WAS (3-4) @ DET - Despite the Lions playing at home, they just can't seem to get a win. WAS's running game is getting better each week.
3 POINT GAMES (Even Match-up, MORE OR LESS. Either team picked here is worth 3 points)
SEATTLE (4-2) @ OAKLAND (3-4) - If the Raiders didn't play so well against DEN, I would have moved this game to a different point game, but they rolled over the broncos. Seattle's run defense will truly be put to the test. Should be a good game, at Oakland, on Halloween.
Big match-up.
TB vs ARI
TB (3-4) @ ARI (3-3) - Evenly matched game, don't want to do the research to provide my reasonings why. Maybe because I could care less who wins.
PIT (5-1) @ NO (4-3) - PIT had a close game against MIA. I am not ready to consider NO the underdog. Even match up for me.
DEN (2-4) vs SF (1-6) @ LONDON - Even Matchup, due to their not being a homefield advantage.
GB (4-3) @ NYJ (5-1) - Two great teams matched up to roll. Should be a really close game.
What style. This guy just knows how to do things the right way.
MIA (3-3) @ CIN (2-4) - I am sure the bengals should be considered the underdog, but I think they are gonna show up in Cincinatti, and make this a tough game for the Dolphins.
JAC (3-4) @ DAL (1-5) - I was going to make this a 4 point 2 point game, but Kitna is a better QB then ROMO. I expect this to be a close game, and it is basically going to come down to which team shows up. KITNA, KITNA, KITNA. He is the answer to every fans dream.
TEN to beat SD @ SD
STL (3-4) to beat CAR (1-5) @ STLWAS (3-4) to beat DET @ DET (1-5)
1 POINT GAMES (Blowout type game) (Read all my 5 points comments for my reasons)
KC to win at HOME against BUFFALO
NE to win at HOME against MINNESOTA
Now this is a game of strategy. Who will come up on top by the end of the season. Good Luck Fellas, make you picks, and again, provide some reason behind your picks.
The point system is interesting because now its a choice to go big or go home....Go 49ers either way!!
ReplyDeletePICKS:
1)Carolina over St. Louis. I want at least one big point game and I think Carolina has something in them to try and beat a rising losing team. Go OREGON DUCKS with JStew getting no(few) carries but still could make a difference.
2)Washington over Detroit. I am not suprised at how well the Redskins are doing but it appears Donavan is comfortable in the system. That will continue against the meowing Lions.
3)New England over Minnesota. Brady throws all day as Peterson puts up a bunch of yards but only 2 scores. The ball travels faster through the air then on the ground, peer physics. Farve does play but maybe he should think about ending his streak to stay alive.
UPSET:
I already picked one upset, but I want to go with Cincy over Miami. Carson Palmer helps me out on a bye week for my fantasy team and throws 5 TD's. This is a stretch I know, but I need fantasy points!!
Go 49ers in the foreign land!
This seems like its going to work a little better. I like how you broke the games down into your own point system. I look forward to dominating from here on out.
ReplyDelete1)Seattle over Oakland. Marshawn Lynch is returning to his hometown and I don't expect him to disappoint. Oakland's weak run D is the perfect matchup for Lynch to have a big game. I don't see Oakland showing up like they did last week, unless Seattle turns the ball over on their first 2 offensive plays. Halloween at the Black Hole is a dangerous place to play...unless you have beast mode.
2)Jags over Cowboys. Jon Kitna will be starting now that Romo is broken. Is he the answer to all of Dallas' troubles? I'm curious to see how this works out for them. I'm thinking the Jags go to the running game and grind out a win.
3)Saints over Steelers. What was Drew Brees doing last week? 4 INT's, 2 returned for TD's. He is going to have a comeback game this weekend, putting up big numbers on a good Defense. Rothlisberger will get back to his old self, getting sacked several times. Should be a good game!
Upset: Minnesota over New England. Brett who? That's what we will be saying next week after Adrian Peterson and the Vikings defense carry this team to victory.
3PU
ReplyDelete1. Seattle over Oakland.
Oakland Raiders team that got a huge win last week but are terrible so far against the run.
They are giving up 138.9 yds a game on the ground including 9 TD’s. Oak is also the
hometown for Lynch. I expect full beast mode to be in play leading MR Lynch to his first
100 yard performance of the year. It is funny to me that the Hawks get the Raides on Halloween due to the fact that ALL the raiders are in costume every Sunday posing as Professional football players. Its always Halloween in Oakland. Hey what a great costume to be…. A NFL Oakland Raider.
2. Indy over Houston.
Even with the injuries to the Colts they still have Peyton Manning. Indy wants redemption after the week one win by Houston. I Think Indy will be ready for Arian Foster this time. Houston pass defense is the worst in the NFL and will get torn apart this game.
3. New York Jets over Green Bay.
The Jest are coming off a bye week and are at home to face a good GB team. GB is a little banged up and the Jets are close to being at full strength. Green Bay has no has not shown a running game yet and will have to rely on Aaron Rodgers. That means testing Revis Isalnd and Cromartie.
Upset - Buffalo Over KC
Go big or go home game for me.
Yes KC has been playing good as of late. They are 4-2 and in 1st in the AFC west. But Buffalo looked awesome last week losing to who I think is the best team in the NFL right now. Fitzpatrick threw all over Balt and is on fire as of late. Eric Berry will be put to the test in this game.
I wanted to pick the Oakland/Seattle game, but we all know it will be a Seattle win no matter how scary it may get! It REALLY should be a 1 pt game :D
ReplyDeleteGame 1: Denver over San Francisco. Neutral game in the land of the next NFL and where NFL there has failed already...twice. [NFL Europe]. Denver has too many weapons who aren't retarded and know what "teamwork" mean. Denver beats them by AT LEAST 10 points.
Game 2: Houston over Indianapolis. Peyton may be The Professor and the greatest QB in history, but his team is WAY too beat up to put up with a healthy Texans team. Andre Johnson takes one to the house and it hinges on Arian Foster's showing up or not.
Game 3: Tampa Bay over Arizona. Evenly matched as well, but Tampa Bay is one of the best teams in the NFC. They are streaking at the right time and getting things done no matter how unimpressive it may be. A win's a win and they keep gettin em.
Upset pick: Cincy over Miami. Miami may look good, but Cincy has WAY too much talent to keep losing like they have been. Owens OR Ochocinco score as well as Benson taking 1 to the house.
BUFFALO over KC. MINNESOTA over NEW ENGLAND. ST. LOUIS over CAROLINA. Way too hungover to be witty and/or clever. I mean, went out dressed up as Kenny Powers last night. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteUpset: GREEN BAY over NEW YORK.
